Free legal aid service for child care payment
Single-parent families and grandparents-grandchildren families, including divorced families and familes living apart, raising children are entitled to legal aid services, such as legal counseling and litigation by proxy for claims of recognition and child support as well as support for DNA testing costs for filing a birth confirmation request (Subparagraphs 5 and 5-2 of Article 17 of 「Single-Parent Family Support Act」).

Legal aid services for guarantee of child support payments (filing an application for compulsory execution, fine imposition, implementation order, direct payment order, security provision order, or detention) in case where the other party (i.e., non-custodial parent) does not perform his/her obligation to make child support payments.

A single-parent family having applied for free legal aid services can receive financial aid to cover litigation costs and attorney fees (Subparagraph 8 of Article 7(2) of the Legal Aid Act).
