Use of duty free shops
Delivery of duty free goods
When purchasing goods at downtown and online duty free shops
- As duty free goods purchased at downtown and online duty free shops are not delivered at the point of purchase, a purchaser receives an exchange ticket signed by the purchaser, and the goods are delivered in the departure area at the point of departure (「Notification on Operation of Bonded Store」 Article 12 (1)).
- However, as an exception, when a foreigner purchases domestic goods at a down town duty free shop, the goods can be delivered on the spot after confirmation of a passport and a boarding pass (「Notification on Operation of Bonded Store」 Article 12 (2)).
· A “Foreigner” refers to aperson who does not have the nationality of the Republic of Korea, is a Koreanwith permanent residency of a foreign country, is a Korean national residingabroad in order to acquire a permanent resident status with Passport Residence,or is an emigrant who reported emigration and a Korean national residing abroad with a view toliving there permanently while holding a copy of the register of Korean nationalresiding abroad or the resident registration card indicating that the holder isa Korean national residing abroad (Subparagraph 2 of Article 2 of theImmigration Act, subparagraph 1 of Article 2 of the Act on the Immigration andLegal Status of Overseas Koreans, subparagraph 3 of Article 4 of the EmigrationAct, and subparagraph12 of Article 2 of the Notification on Operation of Bonded Store).
When purchasing goods at duty free shops in the departure area
- Duty free goods purchased at duty free shops in the departure area are delivered on the spot after confirmation of a passport and a boarding pass.
When purchasing goods at on-board airplane duty free shops
- When a person purchases goods at an on-board airplane duty free shop, the goods are delivered on the outbound or inbound flights.
