Wage
“Wage” refers to wages, salaries, or any other money and goods that an employer pays to a worker in return for work.
‘The employer’ pays ‘the worker’
- The term "wages" means wages, salary and any other kinds of money, which the employer pays to an employee. Workers provide work to employers in a subordinate relationship and are paid wages. To be paid as ‘reward for work’
- The employer pays wage to an employee as remuneration for work, and the occurrence of the obligation to pay must be viewed as directly related to or closely related to the provision of work in judging which money or valuables are paid for work. (Refer to Subparagraph 5, Article 2(1), 「Labor Standards Act」and Supreme Court En Banc Decision 2016Da48785, Decided 2019.8.22.)
Regardless of name, such as wages, salaries, etc.
- Wages are paid to workers on a continuous and regular basis, and if the employer is obligated to pay, regardless of the name, all wages are included in the wage if the employer is obligated to pay for the payment.
