Quarantinable infectious disease

What is a “quarantinable infectious disease”?
- The term “quarantinable infectious disease” means any of the following diseases (Subparagraph 1 of Article 2 of the Quarantine Act).
1. Cholera
2. Pest
3. Yellow fever
4. Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)
5. Animal influenza infection in humans
6. Novel influenza
7. Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS)
8. Ebola virus disease
9. Infectious diseases deemed and publicly notified by the KDCA commissioner as requiring emergency quarantine measures because they have occurred in other countries and are likely to spread within the Republic of Korea, or have occurred within the Republic of Korea and are likely to spread into other countries, except as otherwise prescribed in items 1 through 8

1. New infectious disease syndrome with acute hemorrhagic fever, acute respiratory symptoms, acute diarrhea, acute jaundice, or acute neurological symptoms
2. Infectious diseases declared by the World Health Organization as a target for public health crisis management
3. Infectious diseases requiring emergency quarantine measures equivalent to item 1 or 2 stated above
