Beauty salon business
- The term "beauty salon business" refers to the business of making the appearance of customers beautiful by taking good care of their faces, hair, and skin, etc. (Subparagraph 5 of Article 2 of the Public Health Control Act).

Scope of operations of beauty salon business
- The beauty arts business (general) (hereinafter referred to as “beauty arts business” or “beauty salon”) refers to the business of offering services including permanent curls, haircuts, the styling of hair, scalp care, hair coloring, hair washing, and eyebrow care without using medical appliances or medicines (Subparagraph 5 of Article 2 of the Public Health Control Act and Subparagraph 2(a) of Article 4 of the Enforcement Decree of the Public Health Control Act).

Scope of operations of beauty arts business

Eligibility
- A person who has obtained a certificate of beautician shall open a beauty arts business or engage in such business (Article 8(1) of the Public Health Control Act).

Business location
- Any service of beauty arts shall not be rendered in places other than a business establishment except for the following cases (Article 8(2) of the Public Health Control Act” and Article 13 of the Enforcement Regulations of the Public Health Control Act)
· In the event where the beauty arts service is provided for those who is unable to come to the business establishment due to illness, old age, disability, or other reasons
· In the event where the beauty arts service is provided for those who partake in a wedding or other ceremony immediately prior to the commencement of such ceremony
· In the event where the beauty arts service is provided in social welfare facilities
· In the event where the beauty arts service is provided for those who partake in a photo shoot, such as for the media, etc., immediately prior to the commencement of such shooting
· In the event where the beauty arts service is provided due to special circumstances other than for items 1 through 4 listed above as acknowledged by the head of a Si/Gun/Gu
※ A person who has rendered his/her beauty arts service at a place other than the notified business establishment shall be subject to an administrative fine not exceeding KRW 2 million (Subparagraph 5 of Article 22(2) of the Public Health Control Act).
