What is resident registration of Korean nationals residing abroad?
- Registration of a Korean national who acquired permanent residency in a foreign country, who is residing in a foreign country for the purpose of permanent residence, or who moved abroad after January 22, 2015, and the issue of a resident registration card indicating his or her status as a "Korean national residing abroad.
Declaration of Resident Registration of Korean Nationals Residing Abroad and Issue of a Resident Registration Card for Korean Nationals Residing Abroad
- A Korean national residing abroad who enters Korea for the purpose of staying for more than 30 days must visit the eup/myeon/dong office of his or her residence and declare a resident registration by submitting the following documents (Paragraph 1 of Article 10-2 of the Resident Registration Act; Paragraph 2 of Article 14, Paragraph 3 of Article 36, and Attached Template No. 10-2 of the Enforcement Decree of the Resident Registration Act).
· Declaration of resident registration (for Korean nationals residing abroad)
· Copy of register of Korean national residing abroad or a certificate of overseas immigration
· One photograph for the issuance of a resident registration card (headshot taken within the last 6 months with no head coverings, width × height: 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm)
- Any Korean nationals residing abroad aged 17 or over and who complete a resident registration can be issued a resident registration card for Korean nationals residing abroad (Paragraphs 3 and 5 of Article 24 of the Resident Registration Act).
