Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)
What is GAP?
- GAP refers to the control of hazards such as pesticides, heavy metals, persistent organic pollutants (PoPs), or harmful organisms that can remain in agricultural environments where crops are cultivated, including farmlands and farming water, and agricultural products at all stages of production, post-harvest management (storage, cleaning, drying, selection, cutting, processing, and packaging included), and distribution to achieve the safety of agricultural products, and preserve the agricultural environment (Subparagraph 4 of Article 2 of the Agricultural and Fishery Products Quality Control Act).
Certification of Good Agricultural Practices
- A producer or manager of agricultural products can, in accordance with the GAP Standards, obtain a certification of GAP (hereinafter referred to as "GAP certification) from a GAP-certifying body (Paragraph 1 and Paragraph 2 of Article 6 of the Agricultural and Fishery Products Quality Control Act).
- GAP certification is issued to agricultural products produced and managed for consumption (Article 9 of the Enforcement Regulations of the Agricultural and Fishery Products Quality Control Act).
Indications of the GAP Certification
- GAP-certified agricultural products are indicated by the GAP certification labels shown below. Origin (city/province or city/county/gu), product name (type), weight/count, production year, and producer/manager name are indicated on the packaging, container, invoice, transaction statement, sign, or vehicle (Paragraph 6 of Article 6 of the Agricultural and Fishery Products Quality Control Act and Attached Table 1 of the Enforcement Regulations of the Agricultural and Fishery Products Quality Control Act).

Method of Indication of GAP Certification
- A producer or manager of GAP agricultural products shall indicate the GAP certification through the method specified in Paragraph 2 of Article 13 of the Enforcement Regulations of the Agricultural and Fishery Products Quality Control Act (Paragraph 2 of Article 13 of the Enforcement Regulations of the Agricultural and Fishery Products Quality Control Act).
