In case of thesale or rent of the units of national housing as prescribed by the Housing Act,the State or local governments shall endeavor to have a specified percentage ofthe national housing preferentially sold to Single-parent families. (Article 18of the Single-parent Family Support Act)

The mayor of the Special Metropolitan City, a Metropolitan City, a Special Self-Governing City, or the governor of a Province or a Special Self-Governing Province may select single-parent families within the extent of 10% of the 5-year or 10-yearpublic rental housing construction under his or her jurisdiction and recommends the subjects of the special supply of rental housing. (See subparagraph 27 of Article 35(1) of the Regulations of Housing Supply; 2022 Guidelines for Single-Parent Family Support Project, p. 486)

Single-parent families are eligible for the special supply of rental housing as long as they are non-homeowners (a homeowner or a member of lineal ascendant or descendant listed in homeowner's certified copy of the resident registration card) from the date the tenant recruitment notice was released. Once the head of Eup/Myeon/Dong notifies about the plans for supplying rental housing, Single-parent families can apply for the special supply sales in-lots by submitting the application form for the special supply with the letter of consent for disclosing personal information, certificate of Single-parent family, and certificate of disability (if applicable). Where a projectowner charges tenants for rent at differential rates, depending upon theirincome level, the State may grant the project owner, as a subsidy withinbudgetary limits, a difference between the total amount of rent calculated byapplying standard terms and conditions of rental and the total amount of rentcharged to tenants at differential rates. (Article 5 of the Act on the Supportfor Improving the Quality of Lives of Tenants in Long-term Public RentalHousing)
