The term "knowledge industry center" refers to a complex building with at least three overground floors that can accommodate 6 or more factories, where businesses of the manufacturing industry, knowledge industry, and information communication industry and their supporting facilities can co-reside (Subparagraph 13, Article 2 of the 「Industrial Cluster Development and Factory Establishment Act」 and Article 4-6. of the Enforcement Decree of the 「Industrial Cluster Development and Factory Establishment Act」).
The general establishment approval process for factory establishment shall apply mutatis mutandis to the approval of establishment, authorization, permission and others of a knowledge industry center (Article 28-2 of the 「Industrial Cluster Development and Factory Establishment Act」, Article 36 of the Enforcement Decree of the 「Industrial Cluster Development and Factory Establishment Act」 and Article 24 of the Enforcement Rule of the 「Industrial Cluster Development and Factory Establishment Act」).
