Designation and cancelation of quarantine inspection required area and strict quarantine inspection required area
Designation of quarantine inspection required area and strict quarantine inspection required area- The KDCA commissioner may designate a quarantine inspection required area or strict quarantine inspection required area (hereinafter “quarantine inspection required area or similar area”) following deliberation by the quarantine advisory committee (Article 5 of the Quarantine Act and Article 2 (1) of the Enforcement Rules of the Quarantine Act).
· A country or area in which the World Health Organization (WHO) has provided information on the outbreak of quarantine epidemics pursuant to the International Health Regulations (IHR)
· A country or an area likely to introduce or spread quarantine infectious diseases into the Republic of Korea because a quarantine infectious disease is or likely to be an epidemic in such area
· A country or an area in need of strict quarantine because of the occurrence or possibility of a fatal and highly contagious quarantine infection
Cancelation of quarantine inspection required area or similar area- The KDCA commissioner may or shall cancel the designation of a quarantine inspection required area, etc. when the grounds for designation cease to exist (Article 5 of the Quarantine Act and Article 2 (2) of the Enforcement Rules of the Quarantine Act).
Posting of status of quarantine inspection required area or similar area- When the KDCA commissioner designates or cancels a quarantine inspection required area, etc., he or she shall post such fact on the KDCA website (https://www.kdca.go.kr) (Article 5 of the Quarantine Act and Article 2 (3) of the Enforcement Rules of the Quarantine Act).
