Support Facilities for Victims of Sex Trafficking
Types of Support Facilities and Term of Stay
- Victims of sex trafficking and persons involved in commercial sex acts (hereinafter referred to as “Victims of Sex Trafficking”) may be supported during the following period at a support facility for victims of sex trafficking (hereinafter referred to as “Support Facilities”) (Article 9, paragraph 1 of the Act on the Prevention of Commercial Sex Acts and Protection, Etc. of Victims).

Entering Support Institutions
- Persons intending to enter a support institution or use programs provided in the institution shall submit the following documents to the institution head (Article 12, paragraph 4 of the Act on the Prevention of Commercial Sex Acts and Protection, Etc. of Victims, and Article 9, paragraph 1 of the Enforcement Rules of the Act on the Prevention of Commercial Sex Acts and Protection, Etc. of Victims).

Request to Enter (Use Programs of) the Support Facility (Appendix Form No. 6 of the Enforcement Rules of the Act on the Prevention of Commercial Sex Acts and Protection, Etc. of Victims) and the Consultation Record Card

If requested by the prosecutor or judicial police officer to transfer to the support facility

Letter of Request for Transfer prepared by the prosecutor or judicial police officer

Leaving the Support Facility
- The support facility head may take necessary measures, such as having the visitor or user leave or stop the program usage, if the visitor or user refuses to comply with regulations or conducts acts that severely disrupt the order of group life (Article 12, paragraph 3 of the Act on the Prevention of Commercial Sex Acts and Protection, Etc. of Victims).
- For the following cases, the support facility head may have the visitor or user leave or stop the program usage (Article 12, paragraph 4 of the Act on the Prevention of Commercial Sex Acts and Protection, Etc. of Victims, and Article 9, paragraph 4 of the Enforcement Rules of the Act on the Prevention of Commercial Sex Acts and Protection, Etc. of Victims).
· If the support term has been expired
· If the visitor or user intends to leave or stop the program usage
· If conducting the following actions (Article 4 of the Act on the Punishment of Arrangement of Commercial Sex Acts, Etc.).
1. Sex trafficking
2. Arrangement of sex trafficking, etc.
3. Human trafficking for sexual purposes
4. Recruiting or employing another person for sexual purposes or introducing or recommending a job of sex trafficking
5. Advertising stores involved in sex businesses under paragraphs 1, 2, and 4
· If the support facility’s internal regulation for victims of sex trafficking stipulates the visitor/user to leave
· If the victim/user illegally or falsely entered the support facility
