Victims of Sex Crimes
Medical Support through Specialized Medical Institution
Specialized Medical Institution
- The Minister of Gender Equality and Family, the Special Autonomic City Mayor, Special Self-Governing Governor, or the head of Si/Gun/Gu may designate a national or public hospital, public health center, or private medical facility as a specialized medical institution to treat the victim or the victim’s family (Article 27, paragraph 1 of the Sexual Violence Prevention and Victims Protection Act).
Medical Treatment Support
- If requested by the victim, the victim’s family or relatives, an emergency phone center, sexual violence counseling center, head of a protection institution for the victim of sexual violence or integrative support center, the designated specialized medical institution shall provide medical support to the victim or victim’s family members (Article 27, paragraph 2 of the Sexual Violence Prevention and Victims Protection Act, and Article 9 of the Enforcement Decree of the Sexual Violence Prevention and Victims Protection Act).
Support for Medical Costs
- The victim of sexual violence may claim the competent Special Autonomic City Mayor, Special Self-Governing Governor, or the head of Si/Gun/Gu for medical treatment costs (Article 28 of the Sexual Violence Prevention and Victims Protection Act, and Article 14, paragraph 1 of the Enforcement Rules of the Sexual Violence Prevention and Victims Protection Act).
