Aircraft quarantine inspection and measures
Submitting documents necessary for aircraft inspection
- The head of an aircraft who intends to undergo an aircraft quarantine inspection shall submit the following documents to the director of the quarantine station (Article 12-3 (1) of the Quarantine Act and Article 6-4 (1) of the Enforcement Rules of the Quarantine Act).
· Aircraft health status report
· List of crew members and passengers
· A questionnaire on health status (Where there is an unavoidable reason that an immigrant is unable to prepare it himself or herself, his or her legal representative or the head of the means of transportation shall prepare and submit it on behalf of him or her.)
· Other documents requested by the director of the quarantine station for quarantine inspection
Document and boarding quarantine
- If the director of the quarantine station determines that a quarantinable infectious disease is unlikely to spread in the Republic of Korea by reviewing the documents submitted by the aircraft, the director may conduct a quarantine inspection through a document review (main body of Article 12-3 (2) of the Quarantine Act).
- Provided, the director shall conduct a quarantine inspection onboard the aircraft in the following cases, such as when there is a high risk of spread of a quarantinable infectious disease (proviso to Article 12-3 (2) of the Quarantine Act and Article 6-4 (2) of the Enforcement Rules of the Quarantine Act).
· Where he or she notifies the director of the quarantine station of the following matters or submits a health status report
√ Where a patient of a quarantinable infectious disease, etc. has occurred or is suspected of occurring in the aircraft
√ Where there is a deceased case in the aircraft
√ Where a vector of infectious diseases is inhabited or a trace of inhabitation is present in the aircraft
· Other cases where the director of the quarantine station deems it necessary to conduct a quarantine inspection on board
Necessary measures, including requarantine
- If any information contained in the documents submitted by the head of an aircraft is found to be false, the necessary measures, including requarantine, shall be taken for the following matters (Article 12-3 (4) of the Quarantine Act and Article 6-4 (3) of the Enforcement Rules of the Quarantine Act).
· Progress and status of health and sanitary conditions of aircraft and cargo
· Whether persons entering or departing from the Republic of Korea are infected with any quarantinable infectious disease and have any risk factors of quarantinable infectious diseases, and the prevention and control thereof
· Food storage status in an aircraft
· Whether vectors for infectious diseases inhabit and their breeding status
