Quarantine inspection at a place for quarantine
Place for quarantine- The KDCA commissioner shall designate a place for quarantine in consultation with the head of a related central administrative agency (Article 10 (1) of the Quarantine Act).
Quarantine inspection at a place for quarantine- Any person, such as a passenger or crew member entering or departing from the Republic of Korea (hereinafter “persons entering or departing from the Republic of Korea”) that intends to be quarantined and a ship, aircraft, train, or motor vehicle (hereinafter “means of transport”) shall undergo quarantine inspection after arriving at the place for quarantine (Article 10 (2) of the Quarantine Act).
- Provided, if the person or the means of transport has difficulty in undergoing or cannot complete it, the quarantine inspection may be conducted in the quarantine area (Attached table 2 of the Enforcement Rules of KDCA and its Affiliated Agencies) (proviso to Article 10 (2) of the Quarantine Act and Article 5 (2) of the Enforcement Rules of the Quarantine Act).
Quarantine inspection at a place for quarantine designated by the director of the quarantine station- In any of the following cases, a quarantine inspection may be conducted at the place designated by the director of the quarantine station (Article 10 (3) of the Quarantine Act and Article 5 (3) of the Enforcement Rules of the Quarantine Act).
· If it is unavoidable for reasons such as seizures, surrender, distress, or emergency
· Where it is difficult to conduct quarantine at a quarantine place because of bad weather
· Where it is difficult to conduct quarantine at a quarantine place because of the difference between tidal waves or wave height
· Where it is difficult for the means of transport to anchor, land, or arrive at a quarantine place because of a breakdown
· Where it is difficult for a quarantine officer to conduct quarantine at a quarantine place because he or she has no means of transportation
· Where prompt quarantine is required as soon as a ship arrives, such as with the emergency loading and unloading of cargo
· Other unavoidable reasons specified by the director of the quarantine station
