- A person who operates or runs a ship, aircraft, train, or motor vehicle (hereinafter “means of transportation”) subject to quarantine investigation, a person responsible for operating or running a means of transport, or an owner of a means of transport (hereinafter “the head of a means of transport”) shall document the presence of a patient of a quarantinable infectious disease, a probable patient of a quarantinable infectious disease or a pathogen carrier (hereinafter “patient of a quarantinable infectious disease, etc.”), and hygiene status, and the person shall notify the director of the quarantine station having jurisdiction over the place of quarantine when the relevant means of transportation approaches the place (main body of Article 9 (1) of the Quarantine Act and Article 4 of the Enforcement Rules of the Quarantine Act).

- Where a means of transport inevitably arrives at any place other than a place for quarantine to escape imminent danger, the head of the means of transport shall notify the director of the quarantine station having jurisdiction over the quarantine location nearest to the place of arrival of such matters (proviso to Article 9 (1) of the Quarantine Act).

- The director of the quarantine station being notified under the above notification may give the head of a means of transport instructions to take the necessary measures, such as measures for a patient of a quarantinable infectious disease, etc., and the head of the means of transport given the instructions shall follow such instructions (Article 9 (2) of the Quarantine Act).

- If the head of a means of transport fails to notify quarantine or falsely notifies it, he or she shall be subject to an administrative fine of KRW 2 million (Article 41 (2) 2 of the Quarantine Act, Article 9 of the Enforcement Decree of the Quarantine Act and the attached table).
