Checking the school bus for children
- Check if the school bus for children has more than 9 seats (1 child per passenger) (Former part of Article 52 (3) of the Road Traffic Act and former part of Article 34 of the Enforcement Rules of the Road Traffic Act).
- Make sure that the color of the school bus is yellow and that the passenger seat is equipped with a seat belt that can be adjusted to the child’s body (Subparagraph 1 of Articles 31 of the Enforcement Decree of the Road Traffic Act and Articles 19 (8) and 27 (6) of the Rules on the Performance and Standards of Motor Vehicles and Motor Vehicle Parts).
- Children’s school buses must be covered by the insurance company’s insurance or mutual aid association so that they can fully compensate for any damages in the event of a traffic accident (Subparagraph 3 of Article 31 of the Enforcement Decree of the Road Traffic Act).
Checking the child protection zone
- The term “child protection zone” means thedesignation and protection of a certain section of a road around a childcarecenter or kindergarten or any other facilities orlocations frequented by children as prescribed by the Ordinance wherethe Special City Mayor, the Metropolitan City Mayor, the Governor of JejuSpecial Self-Governing Province, or the head of a Si/Gun(excluding the head of a Gun of a Metropolitan City) deems it necessaryto protect children from the risk of traffic accidents (Article 12(1) of theRoad Traffic Act and Article 14 of the Enforcement Rules of the Road TrafficAct).
